The inspiration for doing any big project (like owning a blog) can come from many different places. Midnight thoughts urging for change, chance to leave your mark on the world, a hobby you want to display on a digital pedestal, or unique views that change other’s perspective. Either way, a blog is more than just a domain floating around in cyberspace. I like to view my blog as a seed. You have to plant the seed (making your blog) and water it (posts) then, after a few weeks, a beautiful little tree is beginning to take shape and starts branching off into more complex and inventive topics. The tree thrives off your attention, and you find yourself growing more because of this beautiful creation you helped make.
Well, everything needs a purpose. On an honest note, I made this blog for a school project. But it’s grown from there. The project was called Personal Project. We had to do something that would challenge us, yet help others know who we are. And I was stumped. I couldn’t find a topic for months. Call it procrastination or lack of inspiration but, it wasn’t until three weeks before that I finally found a project both helping me improve as a person and challenge me. Though, even after coming up with the ideas, hurdles and obstacles still presented themselves. I started biting off more than I could chew, and becoming less and less fond of the plan. Right before I threw it all away and picked an easy way out idea, I managed to stop and reflex why I wanted to have a blog.
I started this blog to be a platform to share the incredible meals my father makes and to immortalize one of the most important parts of my relationship with my family. Food will always be a necessity in my life (and anyone’s life for that matter). Dinners at my house are a time to reconnect with my family and end the day on one last high. We all have vastly different lives and days but were able to connect them with more than just a last name. With food, you bring people to their true selves and demonstrate how much you genuinely care for one another.
So when asked, “why I write my blog?” I can answer with one word. Connection. A connection to others and to cultures. A link to memories and events. A relationship that cannot be found anywhere else, and that I want to help others achieve. A bond that brings everyone home to end the day and say goodnight before they head off to their own paths once again. A connection that stays forever.
